I voted "No", not because I think state-controlled health-provision is good, but because, so long as it's the National Health Service, i.e. a nationalised industry, there ought to be political accountability. If you'd ask, "should our health services be provided, funded and controlled by the state", the answer would have been different (or rather, the same answer, but the opposite import).
I've enabled anonymous commenting briefly, so people can tell us why they voted the way they did without having to register (which isn't that difficult, and open to everyone, by the way). Anonymous commenting will only be available briefly, as it won't be long before the comment spammers hit us again. But I thought it was worth it for a brief while, as we'd love to hear why you feel the way you do.

I voted "yes" because it is political control that has virtually destroyed the NHS. However, this does present a problem because, as a taxpayer funded organisation, there has to be political accountability.
Apologies to those who have tried to vote anonymously (i.e. without registering and logging in). It seems that the site is taking your vote and then ignoring it. We are working on a fix for this.
It looks like the fix for anonymous voting may be working, but if you still have problems voting, please let us know. Unfortunately, I've now had to disable anonymous commenting again, as the spammers had spotted that it was open, but if you don't want to register to comment, email us with problems at webmaster@pickinglosers.com.

A semantic "No"
